At the LIST lab, research on VoIP and SIP protocols has been initiated. The research here will be focussed on implementing a full-featured VoIP system so that any SIP phone software will be able to call a number in the United States.

Researchers at the LIST lab will accomplish this by studying the SIP protocol as well as VoIP architectures. Our initial project involves the following:

  • Setting up X-Lite, a free SIP phone that enables one to make SIP calls over the Internet.
  • Setting up a VoIP gateway, currently using Netyantra's NY-Cube software
  • Terminate the service using a SIP-to-PSTN services provider

More information will be posted soon.
